Sub-Zero Repair in BelRed and the Spring District, Bellevue

The Spring District grew out of industrial land in BelRed into offices and homes around a light-rail station. Where a Sub-Zero there sits behind a custom panel, a stuck door is a clearance question first.

On a panelled Sub-Zero, a door that sticks or catches is measured as a clearance problem before anything else. Sub-Zero Appliance Repair Bellevue reads the reveal around the panel, the panel's seat on its mounting brackets and the gap to the next door. What stuck means on an integrated door

A custom front is fixed to the Sub-Zero’s own door on mounting brackets, and the reveal is the gap between that front and whatever stands beside it. Sub-Zero’s installation guide gives 1/8 inch as typical and warns that as the reveals shrink, fingers can be badly pinched while the door closes. Tighter still, the panel touches its neighbour. The door then feels stuck when it is only binding along one edge.

For a pair of units installed together, Sub-Zero’s Designer design guide calls for a dual installation kit, and where no kit is specified, a filler strip at least 2 inches wide between them. Two doors meeting at a shared edge with neither is a layout question, and we raise it before adjusting anything.

What each reading rules out

  • Reveals compared edge to edge. A gap that tapers means the panel or the door has moved.
  • Panel position. The installation guide moves a panel side to side at its mounting screws, and up and down or in and out with cams on the brackets once the bracket screws are loosened.
  • The level of the whole unit, because a cabinet leaning forward takes its doors with it.
  • Hinge and gasket last. A gasket gummed to the frame can hold a door as firmly as a tight reveal.

Where the answer is a thinner or re-cut panel, that is cabinetmaker work; we measure and write down what the panel needs. The tag gives us the model and serial before a bracket is touched; the price follows as one figure, and the $89 service call is set against it.
